Today, the Healthcare Biotechnology unit of EuropaBio is looking for an exceptional and motivated individual to join it as Manager.
Healthcare Biotechnology
Healthcare biotechnology has a tremendous impact on meeting the needs of patients and their families. In fact, biotechnology in healthcare not only encompasses medicines and diagnostics which are manufactured using a biotechnological process, but also cell and tissue engineered products, gene therapy and includes the use  and  the application of key biotechnology tools in the research and developmentof all innovative medicines. Today, more than 325 million patients have benefited from approved medicines manufactured through biotechnology. Biotech medicines are estimated to account for approximately 20% of all marketed medicines and represent 50% of all medicines in the pipeline.
Your challenge 
EuropaBio’s healthcare biotech unit contributes to the process of policy development and regulatory implementation by presenting a coordinated industry voice and position on all healthcare biotech related issues.
Together with the EuropaBio corporate and national association membership, the ideal Healthcare Biotech Manager, reporting to the Healthcare Biotech Director, will be responsible for the implementation of an agreed strategy aimed at improving the policy and regulatory environments for healthcare biotechnology in Europe. Not exhaustively, the Manager will:
  • Under the guidance of the Healthcare Biotech Director and the Chairman of the Healthcare Council and with the support of healthcare corporate and national association members, implement annual strategies and action plans for the Healthcare sector;
  • Together  with  the  Healthcare  Biotech  Director  and  another  Healthcare  Manager, coordinate  and  manage  EuropaBio’s  Healthcare  working  groups’  (e.g.  orphan
    medicinal  products,  personalised  medicine,  advanced therapies,  health  technology assessment, etc.)
  • Liaise with more than 40 corporate and 16 nationalassociation members;
  • In collaboration with corporate and national association members, develop EuropaBio’s policy positions in key healthcare biotech areas, organise  internal and external meetings,  follow-up  actions  and  coordinate consultations  in  the  different healthcare Topic Groups and Task Forces;
  • Work closely with all European Union Institutions including the European Commission, the European Parliament and Permanent Representations, the European Medicines Agency and relevant stakeholders; and coordinate EuropaBio’s input and outreach on key healthcare-related policies and initiatives at Member State level with the national associations;
  • Represent EuropaBio in European initiatives and key international, European and national healthcare policy and regulatory meetings  and events (e.g. EMA, speaking opportunities etc.)
  • Support media and communication activities relatedto healthcare;
  • Ensure coordination with the other sectors within the association;
  • Continuously acquire and share biotech healthcare specific knowledge (biotech dossiers ‘need to know’/’nice to know’)
Profile & skills 
  • ​University degree in public health, political sciences, law or equivalent;
  • Good practical knowledge of European and/or national public affairs,advocacy and communications,  acquired  during  at  least  5  years  working  experience  in industry associations, in-house public affairs/corporate affairs departments or in public affairs consultancy firms, preferably with direct contact to European institutions;
  • Fluent written and spoken English (working language). Additional  EU languages a plus;
  • Motivated and outgoing personality able to work ina small team;
  • Strong project management and organisational skills;
  • Experienced mediator able to reach consensus within a group;
  • Strong communication and writing skills;
  • Action-driven and result oriented;
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and to multi-task.
