HASHTAG 4 CYBERSECURITY
National, European and Transatlantic Level of
Cooperation for Politicians, Businesses and Users
Today, the very act of connecting to the outside world exponentially increases persons’ or organizations’ risks of cyber-attack. Hackers steel over 5 million data records every day, 73 per cent of them is targeting people’s identity. The urgency is increasing, as these numbers grew by 255 percent compared only to the last year. According to Eurobarometer, 80 percent of European companies experienced at least one cybersecurity incident only in 2017. Over 50 percent of all crimes committed in the EU Member States are cybercrime.
Two panel discussion organized under the Hashtag 4 Cybersecurity project aims to provide floor for discussion about current challenges and solutions for cyber-security related threats on three levels and about three actors: in Slovakia, in the context of the European and Trans-Atlantic security; and amongst the policy, business and users representatives.
The first panel Tackling the Challenges of Cyber Security on National, European and Transatlantic Levelwill be structured as a policy debate, focusing on current challenges Slovakia and the broader CEE region faces when it comes to cyber security, as well as a part of European and Transatlantic environment.
The second panel Cybersecurity of Businesses and Strategic Industry – When Enough is Enough?will represent a stakeholders dialogue, where business representatives will play a key role. It will focus on the day-to-day challenges of businesses, whose cyber protection is a key to prosperous economy; or they are relevant to practically advice to other businesses. The debate shall also reflect on the first panel and open a further discussion amongst stakeholders.
