EFPIA Manager Research Partnerships

About EFPIA:

EFPIA brings together 33 European national pharmaceutical industry associations as well as 41 leading companies undertaking research, development and the manufacture in Europe of medicinal products for human use.


The EFPIA Manager Research Partnerships plays a critical role in enabling participation of EFPIA members in collaborative research and development in the framework of private-private and public-private partnerships, such as but not limited to the Innovative Medicines Initiative or EU framework programmes.

Under the direction of the EFPIA Director Science Policy, the manager coordinates and provides support to the work of several EFPIA expert groups, and facilitates cross-discipline and cross-sectorial integration within collaborative programmes and projects.  This includes engagement with a range of industrial, institutional and public research stakeholders at European level.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of and support to the work of several Working Groups and networks,
  • Contributing to optimising processes of collaborative research initiatives (in collaboration with industry partners, the European Commission and the IMI Programme Office)
  • Support integration of non-pharmaceutical companies and SMEs from various sectors into EFPIA-led research partnership activities (IMI, Horizon 2020 etc.)
  • Tracking and communicating achievements of IMI projects to internal and external audience
  • Track promotion of IMI to different constituencies in different countries
  • Represent EFPIA at relevant external meetings/events.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A University degree (or equivalent) in life sciences, science policy, political sciences or equivalent.
  • Understanding of EU research funding instruments, and related rules and processes
  • Proven record in efficiently managing multi-stakeholder groups or discussions
  • At least 5 years relevant work experience
  • Fluency in English (native speaker or equivalent) with proven experience in drafting position papers/memos and in public presentations,
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software package, website content management systems and internet-based communication tools.

The following would be assets:

  • Previous involvement in or managing of EU-funded research projects, including IMI Projects
  • Knowledge and/or experience of non-EU collaborative research funding schemes in healthcare/life sciences
  • Understanding of biopharmaceutical sector and its challenges
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, medical devices or other health industry in positions related to research and science policy or R&D
  • Familiarity with the functioning of the European institutions,

  • Being a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a highly motivated individual who enjoys bringing tasks with a clear outcome to completion.
