Friends of Europe is seeking to appoint a Business Development Officer to support its fundraising strategy.

Friends of Europe is a Brussels-based think tank that aims to stimulate thinking on key global and European issues that span political, economic, social and environmental challenges. Our insightful and timely publications and animated debates provide access to sharp analysis and they often produce bold recommendations. We promote the confrontation of ideas that is vital to policymaking and encourages wider involvement in Europe’s future.

The bulk of the work will be ensuring opportunities identified by the Leadership Team for fundraising are competently and effectively completed to a high standard and on time. Also, we want to establish a broad portfolio and make ourselves an organisation that is financially sustainable well into the future. We want someone who will deliver on an agreed plan but also can show initiative and original thinking by spotting opportunities to raise funds, keeping abreast of calls for funding and maintaining existing funding agreements.

You must be a native English speaker with the ability to produce concise and persuasive prose; effective problem solving; and a high standard of computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

You will pay meticulous attention to detail with a demonstrable ability to plan and prioritise own workload, with good project management skills under minimum supervision; ability to learn new things quickly and retain information; be able to use own initiative and work autonomously; creativity, imagination and an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising; a proactive attitude, drive and enthusiasm to carry out projects to conclusion; the capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
