Under the general supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) and the Head of Integration Unit the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of activities implemented in the framework of Resettlement Program in Bratislava . The main objective of the Program is to enable effective social and economic integration through the provision of comprehensive assistance and services to migrants  in accordance with relevant international instruments.

Classification: General Staff G III – G IV, UN Salary Scale 1008 – 1226 EUR/brutto per month
Start Date: December 2017 (start date subject to funding)
Contract type: full-time
Duration of the position: 9 months with possibility of extension

General functions:

Under the overall guidance of the Head of Office (HoO), the successful candidate will be responsible for assistance in the implementation of all project/s activities.

Specifically, s/he will:

  1. Provide comprehensive integration services to persons resettled to Slovakia including daily assistance, development of individual reintegration plans, provision of cultural orientation training, arrangement of language and vocational training for resettled persons, arrangement of social and health services.
  2. Provide case management and advise on further integration activites related to job development  and job coaching.
  3. Monitor and evaluate individual reintegration plans on weekly basis.
  4. Prepare records on individual cases  and maintain client’s folders.
  5. Assist in establishing and maintaining program-related contacts/liaison with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Embassies, government and public offices, NGOs, suppliers of services, partner organisations, etc.) in the Slovak republic and abroad.
  6. Assist in evaluation and reviewing of the program progress, including financial monitoring of the relevant budget expenditures in order to ensure effective planning of activities.
  7. Assist in the preparation of periodic and final reports to the donor, including filing and preparation of supporting documentation.
  8. Actively participate in the meetings of the project team, as well as attend official meetings and appointments if needed.
  9. Act as interpreter/translator (Slovak-English, English-Slovak).
  10. Perform general office maintenance tasks including correspondence, market surveys, logistics.
  11. Develop information materials and other supporting documents for target groups.
  12. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the HoO.

Desirable qualifications:

Required qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work / Psychology or similar;
  • Minimum two years of experience of social  work or relevant social field work or counselling – an advantage;
  • Good orientation in social, labour and migration law of the Slovak Republic;
  • Experience with providing direct asissistance, case management, support and intervention, there will be a strong focus on promoting mental / physical health and wellbeing to this service user group, and a definite focus on social inclusion;
  • Experience working with migrants, culturaly diverse environment – an advantage;
  • Very good communication, negotiation, analytical and organisation skills;
  • Flexible, reliable team player with proven networking, negotiation, and partnership building skills;
  • Ability to function effectively and harmoniously in a fast-paced, cross-cultural work environment;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency and drive for results;
  • Experience in developing and implementing activities related to integration issues- an advantage;
  • Experience in working with governments, civil society and the private sector;
  • Knowledge of migration and integration issues;
  • Language skills: Excellent command of spoken and written English and Slovak languages, basic Spanish language knowleadge required (A2-B1 level);
  • Computer skills – user:
    • Microsoft Excel – advanced ;
    • Microsoft Word – advanced;
    • Microsoft PowerPoint – advanced;
  • Driving licence and driving experience;
  • Good communication skills, proven drafting and editing skills;
  • Good analytical and organizational skills;
  • Strong planning skills and strong in keeping deadlines;

  • Comfortable operating at different levels;
  • Ability to take initiative and act with autonomy; personal commitment, creative thinking and drive for results;
