Afore Consulting is seeking to recruit trainees to join our team of European public affairs consultants in financial services.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking to recruit individuals who can join us as at the junior level and be able to assist and learn from our team. You will be someone who enjoys a fast-moving, international environment at the heart of European politics and financial services. You will be genuinely excited and motivated by the challenge of working in a European public affairs environment.

Why Afore Consulting

Afore Consulting is a premium, European public affairs consultancy providing services to the financial services industry. In order to meet the needs of our growing client list, we are now recruiting. The team, led by our Director Nickolas Reinhardt with over 20 years of financial services consultancy experience in Brussels, is made up of very talented consultants and juniors, each carving out their own issue specialisms.

Job Description

The job requires researching, monitoring and reporting on key developments in financial services at the European and as relevant, the national level. It will involve attending and reporting on conferences, hearings and committee meetings. We involve our trainees in contact programmes, consultation reviews and day-to-day client reporting.

You will have the opportunity to reach out to policy makers and be involved directly with clients, needless to say under strict supervision from consultants at the beginning. However, as you demonstrate competence in your areas, we are supportive of junior team members taking on their own projects and research work. Working at Afore Consulting on financial services and institutional issues lends itself to trainees getting that crucial understanding of how Brussels works.

Candidate Profile

To do this job well, an interest in and aptitude for public affairs is a prerequisite. Good knowledge of the EU institutions and decision-making process is a must. We provide the opportunity to develop expertise on specific financial services dossiers which are currently in the legislative process. This is based on a learning-by-doing approach and working closely with consultants and clients. We focus on trainees getting to know the issues, the business structure of clients and building up a network in their specific area.

A postgraduate qualification in European law, economics or politics is desired. Your English is native level or near native level.  You will have excellent research skills.

We are looking for candidates with a flair for public affairs.

What Afore Consulting offers

A 6 month contract under Belgian law with cheque repas.

This could be extended based on performance and mutual satisfaction.

To apply, please email a short covering letter and a CV for the attention of Anne Keane to before 6 January 2016.
