Job description, responsibilities and duties
The U.S. Mission in Bratislava, Slovakia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Local employee Administrative Assistant in the Office of Defense Cooperation. Officer-level FSN in the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) is responsible for providing assistance in developing, implementing, and managing a broad range of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) acquisition cases under the auspices of the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s Security Assistance Program. Provides interface between international Security Assistance Program offices of three U.S. military services and Slovak Ministry of Defense Modernization Section and General Staff organizations for procurement of air and land armaments. Assists with management of over $2B in Foreign Military Sales forecasted to increase over the next 5 years; over $50M in Title 22 grants; the Golden Sentry End Use Monitoring Program; and the George C. Marshall Center program. Maintains direct working relationships with senior officials throughout the Ministry of Defense and the entire Slovak military establishment in order to conduct Security Assistance activities in concert with the organization, training, equipping, modernization, and employment of Slovak military forces. Ensures compliance with the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (as amended) and the Arms Export and Control Act.
Temporary position to fill in the vacant position of the employee on maternity leave. Minimum 3 years administrative and/or program management experience including 1 year of experience with USG and US/NATO or Slovak military is required.

Personality requirements and skills
Education: University degree in international relations, international business, public policy, or business administration is required.
Work Experience: Minimum 3 years administrative and/or program management experience including 1 year of experience with USG and US/NATO or Slovak military is required.
Language Proficiency: Fluent English and Slovak language Reading/Writing/Speaking is required, may include the ability to translate.
Job knowledge: Must understand and be able to explain the Foreign Military Sales process to Slovak agencies/departments.
Skills and Abilities: Good interpersonal skills; ability to work with others; must be able to work independently and under supervision/direction. Must be able to anticipate problems and think of creative and effective solutions. Must have good organizational abilities and be able to prioritize tasks effectively while working under pressure. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to travel outside the country, must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, and must obtain and maintain the ability to drive (independently) ODC-assigned government vehicles.
