About ECTA and the role:
ECTA – the association representing over 100 pro-competitive telecommunications providers across the EU, has an opening for a 6 months paid internship position and is seeking a dynamic individual to join its regulatory and public policy team in Brussels as Public Policy Intern. 
 
Scope of the Role:
The precise scope of the role will depend on the individual selected, but duties would include:
  • Monitoring of regulatory and policy developments in digital policies with particular focus on telecommunications related issues;
  • Attending public events of the EU institutions (e.g. public hearings, workshops, EP Committee meetings) and taking high quality notes;
  • Drafting clear and concise summary updates of relevant policy developments, documents and meeting notes (e.g. public consultations, relevant studies, legislative outcomes, BEREC Opinions, outcomes of BEREC Plenaries etc);
  • Ensuring that such summary updates are distributed in a timely manner;
  • Aggregating regulatory information and compiling data into informational newsletters 
The internship will managed by the Director of the Brussels Office
 
Requirements include:
  • First class written and verbal communications skills in English.  Additional EU languages desirable.
  • A good understanding of the European institutions and the EU legislative process;
  • A clear understanding of and interest in competition policy and regulation applying to the electronic communications sector; 
  • A university degree (ideally a master’s degree) in European policy, political science, economics, law or related field;
  • Flexible and consensual approach and strong organisational skills – able to work well in a small team; 
  • Pro-active, able to work on own initiative and with ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Ideally experience in analysing complex documents and drafting structured summaries of them (e.g. ECJ judgments, academic articles, studies etc).
