Profile

The Public Affairs & EU Projects Coordinator assists UEFA’s member associations in accessing (EU) public funding and supports the line manager in all tasks relating to the day-to-day business of UEFA’s relationships with EU institutions and other stakeholders.

Purpose

1. Coordinating UEFA’s member associations as regards partnership building and readiness for applications for state and EU funding:

  • Monitoring EU funding opportunities for activities relevant to national associations, including early access and pre-intelligence on EU funding opportunities and calls for proposals, and informing UEFA member associations accordingly;
  • Providing technical advice and assistance to national associations in the bid drafting process and management of (EU) grants (excluding the actual drafting of bid submissions) and ensuring each bid is structured in conformity with the bid requirements;
  • Supporting coordination among national associations on (EU) funding proposals and building partnerships to best respond to specific priority bids;
  • Where appropriate, assisting national associations in carrying out relevant advocacy work related to EU funding;
  • Maintaining national associations’ awareness of UEFA’s capacity for assisting them in drafting bid submission and partnership development;
  • Capturing learning from the process and feedback for future bid submission processes.

2. Providing support for broader policy activities:

  • Supporting the line manager in developing integrated advocacy campaigns and, where appropriate, attending discussions with policymakers;
  • Coordinating and preparing UEFA’s responses to a wide range of external consultations and requests for information;
  • Assisting in drafting memos, position papers, reports, presentations in various formats, correspondence and other working documents with external audiences;
  • Monitoring and analysing current and proposed EU developments of relevance for UEFA and its member associations;
  • Coordinating contacts with other team sport federations;
  • Contributing to the management of evidence-based research projects, ensuring the necessary internal and external coordination.

Requirements

Experience required:

  • from 4 to 6 years / working for /with an EU institution or a representative office based in Brussels

Education:

  • Masters preferably in law or political science, but a four-year university degree in economics or humanities would also be acceptable

Languages:

  • English / Proficient

Additional requirements:

  • Proven ability to coordinate and draft EU bids and a track record of successful bid submissions
  • Proven ability to help build international and multi-stakeholder consortia and ensure their engagement in complex bid submissions
  • Solid knowledge of key themes in EU sports policy
  • Proven ability to tailor narratives to different audiences
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and an ability to multitask
  • Flexible approach to work; prepared to travel
