GLOBSEC TATRA SUMMIT is a prominent international conference discussing the most pressing European political, economic and financial affairs. It is organized by GLOBSEC and October 2016 will bring already the fifth edition of the conference. While scrutinising the most burning economic and political EU issues of today, GLOBSEC TATRA SUMMIT incorporates a variety of perspectives and builds trust among the representatives of the EU institutions, member states’ ministries of foreign affairs, finance and economy, business leaders, think tanks and international media.
By bringing together an immensely diverse pool of participants and creating an open forum, GLOBSEC TATRA SUMMIT conferences aim to make a lasting contribution to defining the future of the economic and political governance of the European Union. Making sure the voice of the Central Europe is heard, GLOBSEC TATRA SUMMIT provides a unique opportunity for shaping and presenting the positions of Visegrad countries. The 2016 edition of GLOBSEC TATRA SUMMIT will be even more important as it will take place during the first ever Slovak Presidency in the Council of the European Union and it considered as the most important public event during this period.

European solutions of current challenges – GLOBSEC TATRA SUMMIT 2016 will take a look at the ongoing multiple crises which the European community is facing these days. Financial crisis, migration crisis, crisis of trust of EU citizens towards the common project are just a few examples of them. Key European stakeholders will discuss how to overcome these crises, restore ties between EU member states and thus to strengthen the future of European project.
Migration crisis – In its early stages, migration crisis has divided European countries in their attitudes towards accepting migrants. Some countries built fences while other were very welcoming. Now it seems that all European countries converge in disillusionment with the policy of open borders, yet they are divided over burden-sharing and future of Schengen and asylum policy as such. GLOBSEC TATRA SUMMIT will discuss securing EU borders, desirability of a quota system, future of Schengen system and asylum policy.

Digital Single Market – One of the key efforts in order to boost economic competitivness of the EU in the 21st century is creating the Digital Single Market. Removing obstacles in cross-border e-commerce, geo-blocking, compatibility of VAT frameworks, cybersecurity and data protcetion will be covered by GLOBSEC TATRA SUMMIT 2016.
